Barricade Off

Landowners at the Makolo Campsite, on the Wellington-Masiaka Road, blocked the main entrance of the site because of government delay in paying compensation. Huge flag poles of the secret poro Society were erected at the main entrance thereby bringing works at the camp to a temporal halt.

In a swift response, the Sierra Leone Roads Authority has disbursed more than Six Hundred Million Leones to the land owners to quell the situation. Jubilant youth are seen below removing the barricades in response to the government gesture. Works at the camp have resumed.

Witnessing the payment was the Paramount Chief of Koya Chiefdom, Bai Kompa Bomboli ii.
