The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Sierra Leone Parliament Hon. Sengehpoh Solomon Thomas has disclosed that all 16 local councils in Sierra Leone have not been able to properly account for monies allocated to them during the 2016 financial year.
He spoke after a tour across the country to inspect the local council recently.
Hon. Thomas, who doubles as Deputy Speaker of parliament, stressed that ‘not a single one of these councils could be found to be unblemished so far in terms of procurement procedures.
He said the Public Accounts Committee had asked the defaulting councils to refund the unaccounted funds or the sledge hammer of the law would descend heavily.
