The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mr.Augustine Foday Ngobie was on Tuesday 21st May 2019 appointed to serve as Chairman of the Investigations Committee of the Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB) at the Board’s New England Ville Office, off Jomo Kenyatta Road in Freetown.This is part of the mandate of the board to have a representative from the ACC to be part of the Board; Section 2(d) of the Independent Police Complaint Board Regulation of 2013 provides that the composition of the Board should include a representative of the Anti-Corruption Commission amongst others.
Speaking on his appointment as Chairman of the Investigations Committee within IPCB, the ACC Deputy Commissioner who took up office at the Commission in late April 2019, thanked the IPCB for the opportunity, adding that his appointment comes at a time when the country is on a forward march for national development and cohesion.
“My appointment is a pointer to ensuring that together we all can achieve more for the IPCB and the country at large”, Mr.Ngobie added.
ACC’s Deputy Commissioner who comes with a wealth of knowledge into the IPCB, and having served in the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in many positions between 1999 to 2002 attained both positions as Head of Inspectorate and Compliance Division respectively.
He joined the ACC in 2003 after his national service in the SLP.
As Chairman of the Investigations Committee within the IPCB, DC, Ngobie will be working closely with other committees such as the Public Education/Sensitization Committee, Complaints Committee etc.
