Probe, more probe on former government officials

A recent public notice from the Commission of Inquiry (COI) has informed that the Commission will soon start examining the assets belonging to persons that served as President, Vice President, Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers; and Head and Chairmen of Boards of Parastatals, Departments and Agencies within the period from November 2017 to April 2018.

According to the public notice, the public is encouraged to provide information/intelligence related to the assets of persons of interest to the Commission’s Secretariat preferably before the 10th of August, 2019.

“These assets include but not limited to land, buildings, shares in companies, Bank Accounts within or outside Sierra Leone. We would also encourage people holding these said assets whether as surrogates or trustees to make this information available to us by 10/8/19,” except of the Public Notice reads.

In a separate but related Public Notice, the Commission demanded that the aforementioned former government officials declare all their assets “gained/owned on or within the period that they served, in the form of an affidavit by close of business, 10th August, 2019.”
