Led by the Director of Communications, Elkass Sannoh, the National Youth Service has embarked on creating public awareness through radio programs, on the availability of job opportunities in Sierra Leone for young graduates. All they must do is to secure an online application to be a part of the jobs available at the moment.

Supervised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the National Youth Service (NYS) was established by an Act of Parliament in 2016 to provide young qualified graduates the opportunities to obtain practical job experiences in the public and private sectors of the economy. It also promotes youth participation in governance.

The youth service, under the leadership of Mr. Onanah Jalloh, is currently trying to recruit 500 young graduates into the scheme. This is according to Sylvester Bewie, the NYS Director of Recruitment, Training and Programme. He said NYS is trying to digitize its operational activities for which, this year’s application is done online on www.nys.gov.sl. The information is also available on all social media platforms.

Elkass Sannoh said the awareness raising has begun in the eastern town of Kenema in which prominent radio station aired the talk-show and are intending to replicate the process in all the political districts and regions in Sierra Leone.
