Security Guard Sentenced to Six Months for CCTV Camera Theft
A Freetown court has sentenced 34-year-old security guard Alie Sesay to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing a CCTV camera belonging to Bilal Bah.
A 34-year-old security guard, Alie Sesay, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing a CCTV camera in Freetown.
Sesay appeared before Pademba Road Court No. 6, where the charge of larceny was brought under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. Magistrate Medissa Massaquoi ordered that he serve the sentence at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
Details of the case
The particulars presented to the court stated that the CCTV camera belonged to Bilal Bah and was valued at Le2,540. The alleged theft took place on 21 September 2026 at No. 90 Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen, in the Western Area of Freetown.
Sesay admitted the charge after it was read and explained to him. Sub-Inspector Amiza John, who prosecuted the matter, tendered Sesay’s voluntary caution statement as evidence.
The prosecution also informed the court that Sesay had no previous criminal record. He appeared without legal representation and appealed for leniency.
Sentence
In imposing the custodial term, Magistrate Massaquoi considered Sesay’s guilty plea and lack of previous convictions as mitigating factors. The magistrate also noted that the admission spared the court the time and resources that would have been required for a contested trial.
The court thereafter sentenced Sesay to six months at the Male Correctional Facility.
