NaCSA Commissioner Praises Port of Freetown Transformation During SLPHA Visit

NaCSA Commissioner Chief Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina has praised reported reforms and modernization at the Port of Freetown during a courtesy visit to SLPHA leadership.

National Commission for Social Action Commissioner Chief Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina has commended reported improvements at the Port of Freetown following a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority on September 17, 2026.

Ndomahina met with SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio and Deputy Director General Madam Judith Boi Kosseh at the Authority’s conference room. The discussions focused on developments at the port and the importance of maintaining engagement among public institutions and other stakeholders.

During the visit, the NaCSA Commissioner described the changes at the Port of Freetown as a “remarkable transformation.” He attributed improvements in the port’s outlook and operational capacity to reforms, infrastructure development and modernization initiatives.

Ndomahina also said the developments had positioned the Port of Freetown among the fastest-growing ports in the sub-region. The available information does not specify the individual projects or reforms behind that assessment.

On the same day, Bio received Ahmid C. Jalloh, Executive Director of the Conservation Trust Fund, and members of his team at the Authority.

The delegation introduced the Conservation Trust Fund to SLPHA and explored possible areas of cooperation, with particular attention to revenue mobilization. The meeting was attended by Andrew Tamba Kpulun, SLPHA’s Director of Finance, and Eustace D. O. Rogers, Director of Technical Services.

Bio assured the Fund that SLPHA was willing to support initiatives focused on protecting Sierra Leone’s wetlands and marine ecosystems. He invited the Conservation Trust Fund to formally submit details of proposed collaboration areas to the Authority.

Bio also expressed readiness to work with the Fund to advance the protection and sustainable management of Sierra Leone’s biodiversity. The engagement ended with a reaffirmation of the importance of continued cooperation among public institutions.
