DR Congo Maintain Perfect Start in AFCON Qualifying
The Democratic Republic of the Congo defeated Zimbabwe 2-1 in Harare to win their second Group E match, while Tunisia drew 2-2 with Botswana in Rades.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo continued its strong start to 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe in Harare on Monday.

The result gave the DRC a second consecutive Group E win and moved the team to six points at the top of the group. The side had opened its campaign with a 2-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea.
Wissa helps DRC build early advantage
Yoane Wissa opened the scoring in the 30th minute after Zimbabwe goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze lost control of a cross. Wissa reacted quickly to put the loose ball into the net.
The forward then played a part in the DRC’s second goal, sending Samuel Moutoussamy through to score in first-half added time.
Zimbabwe reduced the deficit through Marshall Munetsi in the 93rd minute, but the hosts could not find an equaliser.
The match was played in Harare after Zimbabwe’s home venue had undergone lengthy renovations. The national team had last played at home in November 2021 before the stadium was deemed unsuitable for international fixtures.
Zimbabwe remain on three points in Group E, level with Equatorial Guinea, while Sierra Leone have no points. Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea are scheduled to meet twice in November.
Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso record narrow wins
Equatorial Guinea defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 in Yaounde, with Loren Zuniga scoring in the first minute.
In Casablanca, Burkina Faso also secured a 1-0 victory, overcoming the Central African Republic after Aboubacar Camara scored the second-half winner.
Equatorial Guinea is among the teams required to play its home matches at neutral venues because it does not have an international-standard stadium.
Tunisia held by Botswana
Tunisia were held to a 2-2 draw by Botswana in Rades near Tunis.
Hazem Mastouri scored twice for Tunisia, finding the net either side of half-time. Botswana responded through substitute Lebogang Ditsele, who equalised on the hour.
The draw left Botswana at the top of Group H on goals scored, ahead of Tunisia. Botswana had also drawn 2-2 with Libya the previous week.
