President Bio Expected in New York for 81st UN General Assembly
President Julius Maada Bio is expected to leave Freetown this week for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
President Julius Maada Bio is expected to depart Freetown this week for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the visit, President Bio is expected to take part in high-level summits and hold engagements with bilateral partners on the margins of the General Assembly.
Focus on UN Security Council reform
President Bio is also expected to address the United Nations General Assembly and lead discussions on reform of the UN Security Council in his capacity as Coordinator of the African Union Committee of Ten, known as the C-10.
The delegation includes Mohamed Rahman Swaray, identified as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Swaray has already arrived in New York.
The exact date of President Bio’s departure from Freetown has not been specified.
