Mytherapist.ng Adds Instalment Payments and In-Person Therapy in Nigeria Relaunch
Mytherapist.ng has relaunched with instalment-based therapy payments through MyItura, in-person sessions at selected Café One locations and new subscription and group therapy options.
Nigerian therapy marketplace Mytherapist.ng has announced a relaunch under the name Mytherapist.ng 2.0, introducing instalment payments, in-person appointments and expanded care options for users.
The platform is partnering with MyItura to allow eligible users to pay for therapy through Mediloan rather than settling the full cost upfront. MyItura launched the financing product in December 2025.
According to MyItura, financing decisions consider a user’s identity, repayment capacity, existing financial obligations, available financial and transaction information, and repayment behaviour. The company said the information used depends on each customer’s profile and is processed with consent.
MyItura said automated scoring supports its decisions, with manual reviews conducted in exceptional or unclear cases. Its financing is generally repaid monthly over about three months, while eligible users may receive repayment terms of up to six months, depending on the amount and affordability assessment.
MyItura said its current non-performing loan rate is about 0.5%, adding that its portfolio is still young and has not yet written off any defaults. It also said accounts that pass the applicable delinquency threshold are classified as non-performing and provided for.
Expansion into physical therapy
Mytherapist.ng is also moving beyond its previous online-only model. In Lagos, users will be able to book a therapist online and attend appointments in private meeting rooms at selected Café One locations.
Oluwaseun-Raphael Afolayan, a co-founder of Mytherapist.ng, said the company chose Café One because its spaces meet the requirements for a quiet and conducive therapy environment. Café One operates more than 30 locations across Nigeria.
The company has also launched its physical therapy offering through a clinic in Abuja. It plans to add at least seven more locations in Lagos and about two additional locations in Abuja within two months. The specific locations have not been disclosed.
Physical appointments will carry a separate location fee in addition to the therapist’s charge, although the exact fee was not provided.
Subscriptions and group sessions
The relaunch includes subscription plans for users who want regular appointments with the same therapist. Mytherapist.ng said the plans will offer recurring time slots and discounted per-session rates.
The platform is also introducing group therapy sessions as part of a broader expansion of its services.
“Nobody should be denied help just because they cannot afford to pay for it at that moment,” Afolayan said, explaining the rationale for the financing option.
He said therapy sessions on the platform range from about ₦4,000 at the lower end to between ₦80,000 and ₦100,000 for some therapists. Therapists on the marketplace set their own rates.
Afolayan also said financing could allow users to book sessions without making an immediate full payment when they lack the financial capacity to do so.
Marketplace model
Mytherapist.ng was founded in 2021 by Afolayan and Dedoyin Ajayi. The platform connects users with vetted therapists and allows them to browse providers by speciality and availability, use an AI-powered matching tool or search manually.
Mytherapist.ng said it now has more than 100 verified therapists and has completed over 5,200 therapy sessions since inception. The platform lists support for conditions and experiences including depression, anxiety, grief, panic attacks and burnout.
The expansion comes as affordability remains a challenge for mental healthcare in Nigeria. The source report cited estimates that approximately 20% of Nigerians experience a mental health condition, while fewer than 10% receive minimally adequate care. The World Health Organisation reported that out-of-pocket payments accounted for 74.7% of health expenditure in Nigeria in 2020.
Mytherapist.ng said its new financing, physical locations, subscriptions and group sessions are intended to improve access while extending the platform’s existing marketplace model.
