MSF Responds to Allegations of Staff Mistreatment and Unjust Dismissal
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has addressed recent allegations made by a former staff member in Kenema, Sierra Leone, concerning claims of mistreatment and unfair dismissal.
In response, MSF assured the public that it has strictly adhered to Sierra Leone’s labor laws and its own internal policies throughout the case. The organization highlighted that the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Kenema had reviewed the matter in 2023 and confirmed that MSF acted in compliance with both the employee’s contract and local labor regulations.
MSF continues to engage with local authorities on the issue but has stated that it will not make further public comments due to the sensitivity of the situation.
Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to Sierra Leone, where it has operated since 1986, MSF emphasized its dedication to providing free healthcare services to local communities, including its staff and their dependents. The organization is actively working with the Ministry of Health to offer free healthcare to children under five, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in the Kenema and Tonkolili districts. In the Bombali district, MSF is focused on improving access to tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment.
MSF reiterated its commitment to supporting both its staff and the communities it serves, pledging to handle the case with the necessary care and attention.
