Opposition Leader Criticizes Chief Minister for Reckless Comments
The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, has strongly condemned recent remarks by the Chief Minister labeling opposition leaders as "unprogressive" for their critiques of government policies.
Hon. Kargbo described the comments as "reckless and irresponsible," emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism in governance. He argued that effective leaders should welcome feedback, listen attentively, and address concerns respectfully.
“A competent leader listens to feedback and seeks to understand different perspectives,” he stated. “Unfortunately, this attitude appears absent in the current administration.”
Highlighting the achievements of the APC during its tenure, Hon. Kargbo pointed to economic stability, manageable inflation, and affordable living standards under his party's leadership. He noted that, during the APC's time in power, inflation remained under control, and the price of a bag of rice increased only marginally over a decade, in contrast to the current economic hardships.
He also defended the opposition's record in Parliament, urging the Chief Minister to review parliamentary Hansards, which he claimed are filled with viable policy proposals from the opposition.
“The opposition has consistently offered alternative solutions. It’s time the government takes these suggestions seriously instead of dismissing them,” he concluded.
