NDMA Responds to Suspected Earth Tremor in Makeni
Residents of Makeni, particularly in the Fullah Town community, reported a suspected tremor accompanied by a loud sound. The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has promptly deployed staff to the area to assess the situation.
Initial reports indicate that the suspected tremor and sound were heard not only in Fullah Town but also in surrounding areas such as Cemetery Road and the Central Business District. Despite the widespread reports, there are no visible signs of structural damage, such as cracks in the ground or buildings, or the movement of boulders, in the affected communities.
NDMA staff are conducting interviews and investigating the cause of the tremor, but as of now, the source remains undetermined. The agency is closely monitoring the situation and has notified national authorities to involve geoscientists for further insights and assistance.
