Sierra Leone's Envoy to Ghana Strengthens Ties with Burkina Faso

Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, has officially presented his Letters of Credence to Burkina Faso's President, Captain Ibrahim Traore. The ceremony took place on June 26, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Ouagadougou.

 

In his remarks, Ambassador Kaisamba conveyed greetings from President Julius Maada Bio and reaffirmed Sierra Leone's commitment to fostering strong diplomatic relations with Burkina Faso. He highlighted the historical and cultural bonds between the two nations, emphasizing a shared vision for African dignity and progress.

 

Ambassador Kaisamba expressed his intent to deepen bilateral cooperation in sectors including trade, security, energy, and agriculture. He pledged to work closely with Burkina Faso’s government agencies to advance mutually beneficial initiatives.

 

President Traore, in his response, acknowledged President Bio’s new role as Chairman of ECOWAS and expressed confidence in his leadership. He also underscored the importance of African unity in confronting the continent’s most pressing challenges.

 

The ceremony saw the simultaneous presentation of credentials by ambassadors from eight countries—India, Türkiye, Cuba, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Luxembourg, and Bangladesh. Ambassador Kaisamba was joined by senior members of his diplomatic team, including Minister Counsellor Aiah Edwin Mbawa, Information Attaché Princetta Williams, and Sierra Leone’s Honorary Consul in Burkina Faso, Abraham Wetiouga Koutiangaza.

 

The event marks a renewed chapter in Sierra Leone-Burkina Faso relations, reflecting both countries’ dedication to regional cooperation and development.
