Police Seize 250 Shotgun Cartridges in Port Loko, Search Underway for Owner
Security forces in Port Loko District have intercepted a large quantity of shotgun ammunition during a routine operation carried out by officers in the Maforki Division.
The discovery was made when a blue taxi, registered as AXD 096 and driven by a man identified as Abu Bakar Sesay from Freetown, was stopped and searched. Inside the vehicle, officers found ten boxes, each containing 25 shotgun cartridges—adding up to a total of 250 rounds.
Sesay was immediately taken into custody for questioning. However, during the initial interrogation, he reportedly denied ownership of the ammunition and claimed he was transporting it on behalf of another individual, whose identity has not yet been revealed.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the unnamed suspect, who is believed to be on the run. Investigators are working to uncover the intended destination of the cartridges and whether the transport of such ammunition was connected to any wider criminal activity.
While in custody, Sesay is said to be cooperating with police and providing information that could help lead to the arrest of the actual owner. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement officials continue to piece together the full story behind the incident.
