Police Crackdown on Kush: Bar Owner "K-Man" and Others Apprehended
In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking and usage, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) carried out a successful operation resulting in the arrest of several individuals involved in the illicit trade of Kush, a potent form of marijuana. The operation, led by Inspector Mohamed Korneh of the Operations Officer Kenema Division, targeted specific areas within Kenema City, Eastern Region.
On Thursday, March 28th, 2024, law enforcement officers swiftly raided a bar located at "C"-curve in Kenema City. During the raid, Jariatu Mustapha, residing at 18 Second Street, was apprehended with forty-six (46) wraps of Kush. Notably, the bar was owned by an individual known as "K-Man." Subsequently, "K-Man" confessed to providing the drug to Jariatu for distribution.
In a separate incident, acting on a tip-off, the Operations Team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number ASZ 886. The driver, identified as Mohamed Soyer from "C-line" Nyandeyama Section, Kenema City, was found in possession of ninety (90) wraps of Kush concealed underneath the driver's seat.
All suspects, including Jariatu Mustapha, "K-Man," and Mohamed Soyer, along with the seized exhibits, are currently in police custody, aiding in the ongoing investigation.
This operation forms part of a broader crackdown on drug-related activities across all thirty-eight (38) Police Divisions throughout Sierra Leone.
The SLP remains committed to upholding law and order, safeguarding communities, and curbing the proliferation of illicit substances within the country.
The fight against drug trafficking and abuse is a priority for law enforcement agencies, and operations such as this serve as a deterrent to those involved in criminal activities.
