President Bio Welcomes Elected Members of Parliament Representing Sierra Leone at ECOWAS

Sierra Leone's President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, welcomed a delegation of Members of Parliament on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. This group, elected to represent Sierra Leone at the ECOWAS Parliament, includes five distinguished members.

The representatives, led by Honourable Sidie Mohamed Tunis, Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, and Honourable Veronica Sesay, the delegation's leader, consist of Honourable Shiaka Sama, Honourable Emmerson Lamina, and Honourable Mohamed Bangura.

During a courtesy visit to State House in Freetown, three of these elected Parliamentarians—Honourable Emmerson Lamina, Honourable Veronica Sesay, and Honourable Shiaka Sama—shared their strategies for advancing Sierra Leone's national interests at the ECOWAS Parliament.

The ECOWAS Parliament, established under Articles 6 and 13 of the ECOWAS Revised Treaty of 1993, serves as a crucial mechanism to strengthen ties with the citizens of the West African Community.

These Parliamentarians aim to amplify Sierra Leone's presence and leadership at the regional level, aligning with President Bio's commitment to deepening democracy, fostering peace and security, and enhancing accountability across the sub-region.
