Pujehun District Council Concludes Budget Talks for 2024-2025
On Friday, August 30, 2024, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development successfully wrapped up discussions with the Pujehun District Council and sector coordination committees in Pujehun town.
The meeting, held at the Pujehun District Council Hall on Jah Street, aimed to improve collaboration between the council's key committees and the district's sector coordination teams.
Mrs. Mbalu Kamara, Deputy Director of Rural Development at the Ministry, stressed the need for clear rules of engagement between the council and the district's various sectors. While the sector committees had been meeting, there was no formalized written guidance. To address this, a terms of reference was agreed upon to guide future sector coordination in Pujehun.
The event ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by district functional heads, committing to work together to improve service delivery and strengthen their relationship with the council.
Mrs. Kamara also noted that delays in fund disbursements were a major challenge affecting service delivery. To tackle this, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) were called upon to support the government’s efforts in the district.
She urged all sectors to respect the MOU agreements and work toward their shared objectives to ensure better services for the people of Pujehun district.
