Sierra Leone’s President Bio Urges UN Support in Sahel Terrorism Fight
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has called on the United Nations to support the efforts of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in addressing the growing threat of terrorism in the Sahel region.
Speaking at the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, Bio emphasized the need for global cooperation to tackle the persistent security challenges facing West Africa.
He stressed that terrorism in the Sahel poses a serious threat not only to regional stability but also to global peace, urging the international community to play a more active role in the fight against extremist groups operating in the region.
