Sierra Leone Police Destroy Large Cache of Illegal Drugs in Major Operation

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), through its Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), has taken a strong stance against drug-related activities by destroying a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics at TOCU Headquarters in Hastings.

 

The operation follows multiple arrests made in recent weeks across various parts of the country. Speaking before the destruction, CSP Mohamed Kugba Allieu, the Head of TOCU, reaffirmed the police force's commitment to eradicating drugs. He emphasized that narcotics have no place in Sierra Leone, highlighting the rigorous approval process undertaken to authorize the destruction and detailing the different types of drugs eliminated.

 

Ibrahim Kargbo, Deputy Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, emphasized the dangers posed by illegal substances to public safety and health. He outlined plans to strengthen surveillance and disrupt drug trafficking networks while reinforcing efforts to reduce consumption.

 

Albert Kamara, representing the Office of National Security, reiterated the government’s dedication to combating drug-related offenses. He emphasized the collaborative approach between various agencies in addressing the growing threat of narcotics.

 

This significant event, attended by stakeholders and members of the media, marks a crucial step in the country’s fight against illegal drugs. Authorities pledged continued efforts to protect communities and enhance enforcement measures nationwide.
