Sierra Leone Red Cross Inspires Kono Students in Humanitarian Work Through School Outreach
Volunteers from the Kono branch of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) are engaging students in the spirit of community service and volunteerism through school visits, aiming to foster a new generation of humanitarian-minded youth.
Through these visits, the Red Cross team encourages students to participate in humanitarian work, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills for making a positive difference. Recently, volunteers visited Eastern Moral Academy, sharing insights on the importance of community service and first aid skills.
At Gbense High School, the Red Cross held a “Red Cross Hour,” introducing students to various Red Cross programs and highlighting the benefits of active involvement. This session motivated students to consider joining, emphasizing the impact of volunteerism on creating a safer, more compassionate society.
These outreach efforts are part of a growing membership drive that aims to build a strong sense of responsibility and community among young people. As the initiative gains momentum, more students are inspired to join the Red Cross, contributing to its mission of lifesaving and humanitarian work.
The dedication of the Kono branch volunteers is leaving a lasting impression, encouraging the next generation to embrace volunteerism and humanitarian action in their communities.
