Koroma Thanks Bio After Return to Sierra Leone, Pledges Support for National Unity

Former President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has thanked President Dr Julius Maada Bio for the support that enabled his return to Sierra Leone from Nigeria.

Koroma expressed his appreciation during a visit to President Bio at State House in Freetown on September 7. He also reaffirmed his commitment to national cohesion, peace, national unity and the country’s continued development.

Koroma offers support for national development

During the meeting, Koroma said he was pleased to be back in Sierra Leone and thanked Bio personally for the decision that facilitated his return.

“Mr President, it is good to be back here at home. I have to be here to thank you personally for the great decision you took on my return,” Koroma told Bio.

The former president also expressed his willingness to make his experience available to Bio whenever required. He reaffirmed his readiness to support efforts aimed at strengthening national unity, peace and development.

Bio calls for collective contribution

President Bio welcomed Koroma back to Sierra Leone on behalf of the Government and the people of the country.

Bio said Sierra Leone’s progress and development depended on the collective contribution of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation or previous position.

While welcoming Koroma, Bio said: “God has put you in this position before, and only a few of us can come here as President. It is good that you are back home.”

The State House Media and Communications Unit said the meeting highlighted the importance of dialogue and shared responsibility in strengthening peace and national unity.
