The Presidency Reviews Bio’s Development and Government Engagements

The latest edition of The Presidency has brought together a range of activities and milestones involving President Julius Maada Bio, covering heritage, healthcare, investment, regional cooperation, energy, infrastructure and national development.

The publication is the tenth edition of The Presidency and the fifth edition issued in 2026. It presents the featured engagements as part of Sierra Leone’s continuing development efforts and national transformation.

Heritage, tourism and environmental protection

Among the activities highlighted are President Bio’s tours of Bunce Island, Leicester Peak and Tacugama. According to the publication, the visits reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to heritage preservation, tourism development and environmental protection.

The edition also includes initiatives involving fisheries and marine resources, although it does not provide further details about those activities.

Healthcare and investment engagements

President Bio hosted Sierra Leonean crew members of the Global Mercy Ship and commended Mercy Ships for its contribution to healthcare. The Government’s partnership with the organisation was also reaffirmed.

Regional cooperation and infrastructure

In the telecommunications sector, Sierratel was relaunched through a partnership with Africell.

Solar power projects commissioned

President Bio commissioned 40MW solar power projects in Newton and Lungi. The projects were presented as a significant step towards energy security and sustainable development. No technical details about the installations were provided.
