The company intends to list on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, with admission expected on October 14, 2026. The offering will provide a public market valuation for Airtel Africa’s financial services business for the first time.
Existing shares make up the offering
Airtel Money expects to sell 270 million existing shares in the base offering. At the IPO price, the sale is expected to generate £529.2 million ($698.54 million), before any over-allotment.
A further 27 million shares could be sold if the over-allotment option is exercised. Airtel Money expects about 16.5% of its shares to be held by the public after the offering, increasing to approximately 17.5% if the option is fully exercised.
Airtel Africa is not expected to sell existing Airtel Money shares in the offer except through the over-allotment option. The company is expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder and support Airtel Money’s development as an independently listed business.
Valuation below earlier expectations
The IPO valuation is below the $8 billion to $9 billion range previously reported when the listing was announced. The base offering is also smaller than the approximately $800 million fundraising amount that had been expected in September.
According to Reuters, the selling shareholders include minority investors such as TPG-backed Rise Fund II Aurora, Qatar Holding, Mastercard and Chimetech. The listing will give existing investors a route to sell shares while Airtel Africa retains its strategic position.
Reuters, citing Dealogic data, reported that the transaction is expected to be London’s largest IPO since Fermi’s dual listing in September 2025.
Business scale
Airtel Money had 56.5 million customers as of June 2026. The business was processing more than $245 billion in annualised transactions and recorded quarterly revenue of $404 million at that time.
The company expects the resulting free float to make Airtel Money eligible for inclusion in FTSE UK indices. The source material does not indicate whether the additional 27 million shares will ultimately be sold under the over-allotment option.
