The company expects admission to the main market of the London Stock Exchange on October 14, 2026, subject to the planned listing proceeding as expected.
Existing shares to be sold
Airtel Money said 270 million existing shares are expected to be sold in the base offering. At the offer price, the sale is expected to generate £529.2 million ($698.54 million).
A further 27 million shares could be made available if an over-allotment option is fully exercised. The additional sale would raise the expected proportion of Airtel Money shares in public hands from about 16.5% to approximately 17.5%.
Most of the proceeds are expected to go to existing investors rather than Airtel Africa or Airtel Money. Reuters reported that the selling shareholders include TPG-backed Rise Fund II Aurora, Qatar Holding, Mastercard and Chimetech.
Airtel Africa to retain strategic role
Airtel Africa is not expected to sell existing Airtel Money shares in the offering, except through the over-allotment option. The parent company is expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder and support Airtel Money as an independently listed business.
In a statement cited in the offering information, Airtel Africa said it expected to support the mobile money business through its next phase of development.
The planned free float is also expected to make Airtel Money eligible for inclusion in FTSE UK indices.
Valuation below earlier expectations
The $7 billion valuation is below the previously reported range of $8 billion to $9 billion associated with the IPO when it was announced. The base offering is also smaller than the approximately $800 million deal that had earlier been anticipated.
Reuters, citing Dealogic data, reported that the listing is expected to be London’s largest IPO since Fermi’s dual listing in September 2025.
The offering will provide a public market valuation for a business that has become an increasingly important part of Airtel Africa’s financial performance. Airtel Money reported 56.5 million customers and more than $245 billion in annualised transaction value as of June 2026. Its quarterly revenue at that time was $404 million.
The October 14 market debut and the possible exercise of the additional-share option remain expected outcomes rather than completed events.
