President Bio Receives New Tabital Pulaaku International President
President Julius Maada Bio received Sierra Leonean Alhaji Amadu Juldeh Sowe and representatives of Tabital Pulaaku International at State House in Freetown.
President Julius Maada Bio received Alhaji Amadu Juldeh Sowe, the newly elected president of Tabital Pulaaku International, during a courtesy call at State House in Freetown on Monday, 5 October 2026.
Sowe, who is Sierra Leonean and has also been newly crowned Horeejo, was formally presented to President Bio, the Fulah community and the people of Sierra Leone following his election to lead the international organisation.
He was accompanied by senior representatives of Tabital Pulaaku International from various countries, including Dr Helena Sahid of Guinea-Bissau. Alhaji Sidie Dem and Dr Abubakar Gerei were also identified among the organisation’s senior representatives.
Election described as significant for Sierra Leone
Dr Sahid described Sowe’s election as a reflection of confidence, unity, peace and respect among Fulahs across 34 countries. She also said that the election of a Sierra Leonean to the organisation’s highest leadership position during President Bio’s tenure was significant.
According to Dr Sahid, the development demonstrated a supportive environment and confidence in Sierra Leone’s leadership. Other global Fulah representatives described Sowe’s elevation as an achievement for him, the Fulah community and Sierra Leone.
Sowe himself described his election as a national achievement. He said he was dedicating his tenure to the Fulah community in Sierra Leone and that his position should be used to promote unity, peace and cooperation among Fulahs and their respective communities.
President urges unity and support
President Bio said the Sierra Leone People’s Party Government had remained supportive of the Fulah community. He also said his engagement with the community had demonstrated its commitment to peace and national development.
Congratulating Sowe, President Bio said: “You have demonstrated for far too long that you are peaceful and that you have been contributing meaningfully to our country.”
The President also pointed to longstanding social ties among Sierra Leoneans, saying: “We have lived together in our communities, attended schools together, and shared good memories.”
Bio urged Sowe to bring the wider Fulah community together and lead his tenure with unity, peace and successful leadership. He also called on Fulahs in Sierra Leone to support Sowe as he assumes his global responsibilities.
The State House meeting brought together Sierra Leonean and international representatives of Tabital Pulaaku International for the formal presentation of the organisation’s newly elected leader.
