Announced on 12 October 2026, the partnership is intended to promote corporate sustainability, deepen climate awareness and encourage environmentally responsible practices across sectors that include businesses, creative professionals and event organisers.
Summit planned for Accra
The summit is scheduled for Thursday, 22 October 2026, at the Google Artificial Intelligence Community Centre in Accra. It will be held under the theme “Designing Sustainable Creative Experiences for Africa.”
Stakeholders are expected to examine climate-conscious production and sustainable business operations. The initiative is aimed at encouraging practical measures that support environmental protection, economic growth and community development.
John Kojo Williams, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of the Centre for CSR, West Africa, said climate change was already shaping lives, economies, communities and creative futures.
“Corporate sustainability is no longer a badge of good intentions or imitation of enviable business practices, it is the discipline of turning responsibility into measurable action,” Williams said.
Planned sustainability initiatives
Kenneth Awotwe Darko, founder of the Climate x Culture Summit, disclosed plans for the signing of the Accra Climate Culture Accord and the development of a Sustainable Event Production Guide for Ghana.
Both initiatives remain planned elements of the summit. The source did not confirm that either has been completed.
Darko is also associated with the expectation that the summit will generate practical outcomes to strengthen environmental responsibility in Ghana’s creative and events industries.
The Centre for CSR, West Africa and the summit organisers are also working towards creating a permanent network of climate-culture practitioners. The proposed network is intended to support continued collaboration, knowledge-sharing and the integration of sustainability beyond the inaugural event.
Long-term sustainability focus
The Centre has promoted Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability across West Africa for 14 years, while facilitating conferences, stakeholder engagements and partnerships involving academic institutions, regulatory agencies, civil society organisations, business associations and community leaders.
Its work includes advocacy, training, policy development and guidance on Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental, Social and Governance practices and sustainable business development.
Williams said the partnership represented an extension of the Centre’s mission to make sustainability part of culture, art and daily life.
“By equipping the creative and events industries with the tools for sustainable production, we are not just talking about change; we are infusing it into our future,” he said.
