The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has directed all international travellers using Freetown International Airport to comply with mandatory Health Declaration Form requirements before arrival or departure.
The directive was announced on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, in a public notice signed by SLCAA Director General Ms. Musayeroh Barrie.
Passengers urged to complete forms in advance
SLCAA advised passengers to complete the applicable Health Declaration Forms before proceeding to the airport. Travellers must also keep their completed forms readily available for verification whenever they are requested by relevant airport authorities.
The Authority emphasized that compliance with the requirements is compulsory. Passengers who fail to fulfil the requirements risk being prevented from boarding their flights.
SLCAA’s notice warned that failure to comply would result in denial of boarding.
Call for wider passenger awareness
The aviation regulator called on airlines, travel agencies and other relevant aviation industry stakeholders to intensify public awareness of the requirements and ensure that travellers are informed of their obligations before reaching the airport.
According to SLCAA, completing the necessary documentation in advance is intended to reduce avoidable delays, improve passenger processing and support compliance with established airport health requirements.
Freetown International Airport is Sierra Leone’s principal international aviation gateway. The Authority said cooperation among passengers, airlines, travel agencies and airport stakeholders remains essential to seamless international travel operations.
The directive forms part of SLCAA’s efforts to strengthen compliance with airport health requirements and support safe, orderly and efficient passenger processing in Sierra Leone’s aviation sector.
