Education Ministry Engages “Leh Wi Learn” on Strengthening Teacher Training and Technical Programs
The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education has held a stakeholder consultation with the “Leh Wi Learn” initiative, focusing on ways to improve teacher training institutions and expand technical and vocational education programs.
The meeting brought together ministry officials, education partners, and representatives from Ghana’s T-TEL, who shared lessons from their own teacher education reforms. Discussions centered on revising curricula, building institutional capacity, and addressing gaps in technical and vocational training.
Deputy Minister Sarjoh Aziz Kamara highlighted reforms already underway, including updates to the Universities Act, the transformation of polytechnics into universities, and the need for stronger implementation of education policies. He stressed the importance of partnerships and clear timelines to achieve sustainable results.
Other speakers emphasized the urgent need for trained instructors in technical schools, improved coordination between institutions, and strategies to prepare Sierra Leone’s growing youth population with the skills required for national development.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to curriculum reform, expansion of technical education, and collaboration with programs like “Leh Wi Learn” to advance Sierra Leone’s education agenda.
