Kono Police Face Scrutiny Over Handling of Sensitive Case

Police at the Koakoyima Police Post in Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District, are facing criticism following allegations that they mishandled a reported case involving a young girl from Koryadu village. According to community sources, the incident was reported to the Koakoyima Police Post on October 18, 2024, and the individual involved was taken into custody on October 20.

Residents of Koryadu allege that officers at the police post have withheld information about the case, limiting the involvement of local leaders who aim to ensure fair treatment for those affected. The officer in charge initially stated that the police post had no knowledge of the case.

However, reports indicate that the young girl and her family were present at the police post, leading to further questions about the situation. Efforts to obtain information from senior officials have not yet yielded any results.

The young girl has asked for the support of community leaders and police officials in her pursuit of fair treatment.
