Freetown Man Jailed for Ten Years After Assaulting Four-Year-Old Girl
A man has been sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl. The judgment was delivered at the Sexual Offences Court in Freetown during a criminal session.
The accused, identified as Alhaji Sawaneh, admitted to the offense and appeared in court without a lawyer. The incident occurred on July 19, 2023, and involved a minor under the age of 18.
During the hearing, the judge condemned the act as deeply cruel and emphasized the need to protect vulnerable children. Although Sawaneh asked the court for mercy, the judge stated that the gravity of the offense could not be overlooked.
In passing sentence, the judge encouraged Sawaneh to use his prison term to develop useful skills and ordered that he must not contact the victim after his release.
