Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission Denies Fake Recruitment Announcement

Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission Denies Fake Recruitment Announcement

A message circulating on WhatsApp claims that the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has opened a recruitment portal for various positions. However, the commission has officially denied this information, stating that no recruitment process is currently underway.

On February 5, 2025, a link was shared on social media, urging job seekers to apply with messages such as “Recruitment has already started” and “APPLICATION IS FREE!!!”. Given the widespread interest in this announcement, a verification process was conducted to determine its authenticity.

Albert Massaquoi, the External Relations Officer at ECSL, confirmed that the recruitment notice was false and that no new hiring process had been launched. Due to the rapid spread of misinformation and the high number of inquiries received, ECSL issued an official disclaimer on February 6, 2025, warning the public to disregard the fake announcement.

As a result, the claim about ECSL’s recruitment drive is entirely false. The commission urges citizens to be cautious and verify information before responding to such messages.
