Hon. Jawah Sesay Initiates First Secondary School Project in Kalanthuba Chiefdom

In a landmark initiative for Kalanthuba Chiefdom in Tonkolili District, Hon. Jawah Sesay has launched the construction of the region’s first secondary school. The project was kickstarted with a donation of 100 bags of cement, pickaxes, shovels, and other building materials.

Kalanthuba Chiefdom, which became independent in 2017, consists of 43 villages and five sections but has only one approved primary school. The establishment of a secondary school is expected to significantly improve access to education for local students.

During the event, Hon. Sesay acknowledged the challenges the chiefdom faces, including the absence of a paramount chief, and assured residents that efforts are underway to address the issue. He encouraged future students of the school to remain dedicated to their studies and respectful to their elders.

He also emphasized his commitment to advocating for Kalanthuba Chiefdom in parliament, stating that his persistent efforts have gained recognition. He promised that the chiefdom would be included in the next national budget.

As part of his broader development vision, Hon. Sesay announced plans to push for the use of Community Development Agreement (CDA) funds from mining companies to improve infrastructure, particularly roads.

Community leaders and officials praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to transform the future of the chiefdom. Local chiefs, council members, and education stakeholders commended Hon. Sesay’s dedication to progress, with many expressing gratitude for his leadership.

The event concluded on a hopeful note, with residents welcoming the long-awaited development, which promises to open new educational opportunities for generations to come.
