Nigerian fintech Bujeti has announced the Real-time Agent Intelligence Network, or BRAIN, a system of four artificial intelligence agents designed to automate routine finance work.

The company said the agents, which it calls “Teammates”, will process financial documents, follow up on unpaid invoices, monitor vendor activity and contracts, and respond to employees’ questions about company finance policies. Bujeti said the Teammates will become publicly available on September 30, although it did not specify the year.
Four agents for finance operations
Bujeti said Fetch connects to storage and accounting applications to locate invoices and receipts, extract information and assign confidence scores. Cases it cannot process confidently are referred for human intervention.
Chaser is designed for accounts receivable. It can contact customers about unpaid invoices through email, SMS and WhatsApp, negotiate payment plans or partial settlements, and escalate disputed cases to a human.
Watchdog scans vendor activity and contracts and raises alerts according to the severity of an issue. Concierge serves as an internal finance knowledge assistant, answering employees’ questions about their company’s financial policies.
The company said BRAIN works with accounts, budgets, vendors, contracts and transactions already incorporated into Bujeti’s platform. Cossi Achille Arouko, Bujeti’s co-founder, said the system is built on financial data the company has spent three years organising.
“BRAIN does not sit beside the ledger and ask to be fed. It reads the books we spent three years making legible,” Arouko said.
Human approval remains required
Bujeti said its system retains human oversight for irreversible actions. When an action such as moving money is required, an AI agent creates a proposal that must be approved by a named person.
The company also said BRAIN uses an orchestration layer that can direct different tasks to different AI models rather than relying on one model. Bujeti did not identify the models used by the system.
Arouko said the intended division of responsibilities is for the agents to manage routine processes while employees retain responsibility for judgment and decisions.
“They handle the routine so your people handle the judgment, and you stay in control,” he said.
Bujeti is also building Bujeti MCP, which it said will allow AI assistants including ChatGPT and Claude to connect to company Bujeti accounts, subject to the permissions already in place.
Targeting larger businesses
Bujeti said more than 1,000 teams use its platform. The company is targeting mid-market and enterprise businesses, particularly those with more than 20 employees and more complex financial operations.
Founded in 2022 by Arouko and Samy Chiba, Bujeti initially operated as a remittance product before pivoting in 2023, according to Arouko. It later expanded from corporate cards into spending approvals, budgets, vendor payments, business accounts, invoicing, tax and payroll.
The Y Combinator-backed company said it is fully operational in Nigeria and Kenya and plans to expand into Francophone Africa. It has not disclosed which countries it will enter or when that expansion will happen.
“Our opportunity isn’t limited to one country’s banking infrastructure,” Arouko said, pointing to the connected financial ecosystem across the West African Economic and Monetary Union region.
