The programme, held under the theme “Go the Extra Mile,” ended on Friday, October 9, 2026. According to UBA Sierra Leone, the celebration brought together fashion, entertainment, cultural expression, teamwork and direct engagement with customers.
Five themed days
Employees took part in activities organised around five themes: “Old Money,” “The Matrix,” “A Walk in Their Shoes,” “Y2K” and “African Heritage.”
The “A Walk in Their Shoes” activity saw employees dress to represent people in different professions, including construction workers and other essential service providers. The bank said the exercise was intended to encourage empathy and improve understanding of customers from diverse backgrounds.
The “African Heritage” activity focused on African traditions, diverse identities and shared heritage, while the wider programme used employee participation to promote teamwork and a workplace culture in which service excellence is a shared responsibility.
Customer appreciation
UBA Sierra Leone’s Customer Experience team also organised a Lucky Dip promotion for customers as part of the celebration. Gifts included UBA-branded notebooks, pens, provisions and other items, offered in appreciation of customers’ continued patronage.
The bank’s Executive Director, who was also serving as Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, presented gifts to customers, exchanged handshakes and interacted with beneficiaries during the promotion.
UBA Sierra Leone said the celebration reaffirmed its commitment to delivering strong banking experiences and deepening relationships with customers. It also used the occasion to highlight customer satisfaction, effective communication, responsiveness and the continued improvement of its banking services.
Service beyond the celebration
The bank said Customer Service Week was intended not only to recognise customer loyalty, but also to encourage professionalism, empathy, innovation and dedication among employees.
UBA Sierra Leone further stated that “going the extra mile” should guide its everyday approach to serving customers rather than remain limited to a special event. The bank reaffirmed its determination to improve customer experiences, respond to emerging needs and maintain the trust of the individuals and businesses it serves.
