“We’re One Government” – Chief Minister Sengeh Stresses Unity Among Cabinet Members

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has addressed rumors of discord within the Sierra Leone government, assuring the public that the Cabinet remains unified despite speculation over the credit for securing the US$480 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact Program.

The discussion began when President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio publicly praised Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh for his role in obtaining the MCC Compact, noting his work with the MCC Scorecard team. This led to questions from the public and supporters of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) about why Chief Minister Sengeh's contributions were not highlighted.

Adding to the conversation, the First Lady's comment that "the Chief Minister is not the President" fueled rumors of internal tension within the ruling party. However, Chief Minister Sengeh clarified his significant involvement in the process, recounting a key meeting with a Congressional staff member that helped remove a hold on the MCC Compact.

Despite the differing narratives, Chief Minister Sengeh emphasized that the government remains united. In a recent social media post, he reassured the public by highlighting the collaborative efforts within the Cabinet, stating, “At today’s Cabinet meeting, we approved several important initiatives, including the MCC Grant. We’re one government, and together we will deliver.”

Dr. Sengeh’s remarks reinforced the administration's commitment to unity and delivering positive results for the people of Sierra Leone.
