The privately-owned Central University, located in the Northern town of Mile 91, has officially announced the schedule for its upcoming Student Union Presidential Election. In a public notice dated November 29th, 2023, the university encourages interested students to submit their applications for the prestigious role.

Marked for December 18th, 2023, the election aims to elect the Student Union President for the 2023/2024 academic year. The university emphasizes the eligibility criteria, restricting candidacy to students in their second and third years of study. Furthermore, applicants must have achieved a Grade Point Average (GPA) of not less than 3.80 from the previous year to qualify for candidacy.

The public notice underscores the importance of interested candidates picking up, filling out, and submitting their application forms to the Registry Office by December 1st, 2023. The administration anticipates a thorough process, ensuring that only qualified candidates contribute to the leadership of the Student Union.

Following the submission deadline, the university plans to announce and publish the names of the qualified candidates on December 5th, 2023. Subsequently, a date for what the institution terms "peaceful campaigns" will be declared, providing candidates an opportunity to present their visions to the student body.

While the number of applicants remains undisclosed, Central University's commitment to a fair and transparent election process stands as a testament to its dedication to academic excellence and ethical conduct. Established in Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Central University has swiftly become one of Sierra Leone's fastest-growing learning institutions, renowned for its commitment to eradicating corruption, preventing sex-for-grades, and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice.
