Day 5 of Rescue Operations at Collapsed Seven-Storey Building in Freetown
Search and rescue operations continue on Day 5 at the site of the collapsed seven-storey building on Shell New Road, Freetown. The death toll has tragically risen, with 23 people recovered from the debris, including 15 confirmed dead.
Eight survivors have been pulled from the wreckage, with three still receiving medical care at Rokupa Hospital. Five others have been treated and discharged. Despite the devastation, rescuers remain hopeful, as reports suggest there may still be individuals trapped under the rubble.
Among the missing are a four-year-old child, whose father has made a public plea for help, and a one-year-old believed to be beneath the building, where eight bodies were previously recovered.
Rescue teams, aided by community volunteers and specialized equipment, are working tirelessly as the operation reaches a critical stage. Authorities continue to urge patience as efforts persist to find more survivors.
