Drizilik and Sierra Leoneans Embark on Budapest Bamako Rally for Autism Awareness

On January 26, 2024, Sierra Leonean musician Drizilik, alongside two compatriots, IB Cole and Mohamed Waritay (Med-Iye), kicked off their participation in the Budapest Bamako rally, which resumed on this Friday. The trio was the first to cross the starting point, marking the beginning of a 9000km journey from the heart of Europe to Bureh Beach in Sierra Leone, spanning two continents and 10 countries.

The three Sierra Leoneans are riding car 61 and have dedicated their journey to raising awareness for autism. IB Cole, co-founder of the autism support charity Puzzle Pieces, rides for autism awareness alongside his wife Nalla. Their son, Mahmoud, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Given the limited support services for families with children with autism in Sierra Leone, IB Cole envisions creating a specialized autism resource center. The center aims to provide support to families, educate teachers, and raise awareness within the community about supporting individuals with autism.

The Budapest Bamako rally, known for its challenging routes and adventurous spirit, provides a unique platform for individuals to engage in philanthropy and advocacy while navigating diverse terrains. Drizilik, IB Cole, and Mohamed Waritay's commitment to autism awareness adds a significant humanitarian aspect to their participation in this rally.

The first leg of their journey involves a 900km drive from Budapest to Milan, setting the tone for the challenging yet impactful adventure that lies ahead.

This initiative not only showcases the diverse talents and passions of Sierra Leoneans but also highlights their dedication to social causes that impact their communities. The Budapest Bamako rally serves as a platform not only for thrilling experiences but also for making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
