EDSA Conducts System Testing, Announces Temporary Power Outages
The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has initiated a major system testing operation, referred to as the "SWITCH-ON TESTING," to evaluate the performance of its transmission system along the Northern corridor. This process began on December 23, 2024, and is expected to temporarily disrupt power supply in various areas.
Affected locations include Sewafeh, Go Town, communities along the Kono-Mansingbi highway, Koidu Township, and the Octea Mining region.
According to EDSA’s Public Relations Officer, Ing. Mohamed Sillah, the testing involves the advanced Bikongor high-power substation network. This effort is part of EDSA’s strategy to improve the efficiency and reliability of electricity distribution across the region.
While acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the interruptions, EDSA assured residents and businesses that every effort would be made to restore services promptly.
“This testing process is critical for ensuring consistent and improved power supply,” said Ing. Sillah. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation during this period.”
EDSA has pledged to keep the public informed about the progress of the testing and any additional updates.
