Fourah Bay College Demands Urgent Fix for Dangerous Access Road
Fourah Bay College, one of Africa’s oldest and most respected universities, has raised alarm over the poor state of the road leading to its campus.
According to the university’s administration, the road has become almost impassable, with deep potholes stretching from Model Junction all the way to the campus. Students and staff have been forced to endure unsafe travel conditions, with many relying on motorcycles due to the poor state of taxis, which heightens the risk of accidents.
The situation, they warned, poses a serious danger to everyone accessing the university.
It was revealed that an agreement had previously been made with a Chinese company to reconstruct the road. However, progress has stalled, with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority showing little effort to move the project forward.
The university is now urging urgent government intervention, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of its students, staff, and visitors are at risk if nothing is done.
