Leone Stars Drop Three Places in Latest FIFA Rankings
Sierra Leone’s national football team, the Leone Stars, has fallen three positions in the latest FIFA rankings, now sitting at 125th globally. This drop reflects a loss of 14.74 points between July and September 2024.
The Leone Stars also dropped from 34th to 35th among CAF nations. This decline follows a difficult period for the team, with no wins in their last three matches. Head coach Amidu Kamara has faced increasing criticism, having secured only two victories out of eight games since his appointment.
Despite the setback, Sierra Leone remains ranked higher than countries like The Gambia, India, Liberia, and Rwanda. The team now looks ahead to a crucial double-header against Ivory Coast in October, part of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
