"LRMG Achieves Milestone with Inauguration of 30 MTPA Processing Plant and Power Facility in Tonkolili, Sierra Leone"

Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) marked a significant moment in Sierra Leone's industrial landscape on April 8, 2024, with the grand inauguration of its pioneering 30 MTPA processing plant and heavy fuel oil power plant at the Tonkolili Mine site. This event, which saw the unveiling of a facility capable of producing 10 million tons per year, represents a monumental leap forward in the optimization of ore into 66% iron concentrate.

 

LRMG, renowned for its innovative approach and commitment to excellence, has once again raised the bar in the mining industry. Salim Sillah, the Chief Technical Officer of LRMG, outlined the company's remarkable growth trajectory, citing the recent launch of the $200 million 12 million tons processing plant and the ongoing $500 million investment in the 30 million tons facility over a span of just two years. Describing LRMG as pioneers of change, Sillah emphasized the company's relentless pursuit of innovation and progress.

 

Collin Ding, the President of LRMG, emphasized the project's significance for Sierra Leone, highlighting the creation of over 6,000 jobs to date, with plans to expand to 15,000 by 2025 through this project alone. This substantial job creation aligns with President Bio's ambitious goal of generating 500,000 jobs by 2028. The project also promises substantial benefits in terms of royalties, fiscal revenue, and overall development for the country.

 

Julius Mattai, the Minister of Mines, lauded LRMG's contributions to Sierra Leone's mining sector, praising the company's track record of integrity and success. The fruitful collaboration between LRMG and MML resulting in the export of $800 million worth of iron ore underscores the company's positive impact on the national economy and its commitment to fostering partnerships to enhance the mining industry.

 

Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Alhaji Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, commended LRMG for its dedication and investments, recognizing its pivotal role in advancing Sierra Leone economically and socially. The project serves as a beacon of progress for the nation, with the government steadfast in its support for initiatives that drive prosperity and growth.

 

LRMG's Tonkolili Iron Ore project emerges as a global leader in the industry, elevating Sierra Leone's profile on the international stage.
