Mandu Chiefdom Schools Demand Local Examination Center for Public Exams

On August 1, 2024, secondary schools in Mandu Chiefdom, Kailahun District, called for the establishment of a local examination center for public exams, including the BECE, WASSCE, and NPSE.

Acting Principal of Mandu Secondary School, Osman Kanneh, emphasized that the number of secondary schools and students in the chiefdom justifies this demand. He also noted that the establishment of the senior secondary school had been approved by Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio.

Vice Principal Augustine Jusu Lamin highlighted the challenges faced by students traveling to other districts for exams, including cases of malaria and risks to female students. He mentioned that a lack of communication between the government and WAEC had prevented the exams from being held in the chiefdom.

Students participating in the exams expressed confidence in their performance and appealed to the government to create a local examination center for the next academic year to ensure a more conducive learning environment.
