Presidential Aide Myk Berewa Criticizes Dismissal of John Keister After Sierra Leone's 4-1 AFCON Loss

After Sierra Leone's 4-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, Myk Berewa, a media aide to President Bio, expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision to dismiss former head coach John Keister.

In his statement, Berewa acknowledged the challenges of playing away matches but called Keister's removal "misguided." He praised Keister for leading Sierra Leone to the Africa Cup of Nations after a long absence, highlighting it as a significant achievement.

Berewa stressed the need for consistency in football and questioned the rationale behind dismissing the coach, whom he believes to be the most qualified and experienced for the job. He urged the football management to consider their decisions carefully, given the substantial investments made in the sport, and added that unless someone more qualified is found, Keister should have remained in charge.
