U.S. and Sierra Leone Military Hold Defense Coordination Meeting

The first-ever U.S.-Sierra Leone Defense Country Coordination Meeting (CCM) began on February 6 at Army Headquarters, Cockerill Barracks in Freetown.

The two-day event brings together military representatives from both nations to discuss defense priorities and strengthen cooperation in the coming years. Participants include officials from the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF), and Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF), along with Sierra Leonean military leaders.

U.S. Ambassador Hunt described the meeting as a milestone in the partnership between the two countries, emphasizing that open dialogue and strategic planning will help address security challenges and promote long-term stability in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the United States.
