Vice President Jalloh Meets with Ivory Coast Officials to Strengthen Sierra Leone’s Electricity Supply

Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh held an important meeting in Freetown today with the Energy Governance Coordination Team and the Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy of Ivory Coast. The discussions focused on enhancing Sierra Leone’s electricity supply and advancing regional energy cooperation.

 

A major point of the meeting was the finalization of plans for the Côte d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea (CLSG) interconnection project, which aims to boost energy stability across West Africa. Vice President Jalloh emphasized the need for collaboration in strengthening the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP), an initiative designed to integrate regional power networks and provide sustainable energy access.

 

The meeting also addressed challenges in Sierra Leone’s electricity supply and explored long-term solutions for energy sustainability. Jalloh underscored the economic and developmental benefits of improved energy infrastructure for both Sierra Leone and the broader region.

 

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening energy cooperation, with the goal of ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for Sierra Leone. This partnership reflects a shared vision for a more resilient and interconnected power network across West Africa.
