He said he formally reported the death of the late Mr. Solomon to the town administrator while his landlord and his family evacuated the entire house, including surrounding houses. He disclosed that the late Mr. Solomon was a local contractor and former worker at SALWACO Kono. He was from the Mende tribe in Bonte district and was known as a bachelor with no close relatives, let alone a wife or children. ``The late Mr. Solomon was involved in an accident several months ago, which has restricted his freedom of movement and other personal activities.''
Chief Sar Molchende Ngebai, Mayor of Kania Old Town, Tankoro Tribe Region, Koidu Town, Kono District, said that he was first informed when the body started to decompose, which was a health risk for the people living in the area. He added that it was not good and said that everyone moved out of the house because the landlord did not inform them. “This is the first time such an incident has taken place in our city and we need to know who is sheltering in different homes and always contact the authorities to avoid future embarrassment. We must ensure that the case is closed,” he said. He claimed that legal action would be taken against the landlord for failing to report to the authorities the death of the deceased man (Solomon) who had left the house.
He said he then lodged a police report near Kimbadu Police Station in Tankoro Emirate for further investigation into the death of the deceased man. Police rushed to the scene and took snapshots and other details.
Deputy Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun, Councilor Sheku Kamara, said the deceased was an abandoned body whose burial would be undertaken by the council.
