Chief of Defence Staff Dismisses Connection Between Attempted Coup and Former President Koroma

Chief of Defense Staff, Lt-General PK Lavahun, Dismisses Links to Former President in Aftermath of Freetown Attack

 

In the aftermath of Sunday's alarming attack in Freetown, Lt-General PK Lavahun, Chief of Defense Staff, categorically refutes claims connecting the attempted coup to former President Koroma. Addressing concerns surrounding the incident, Lt-General Lavahun emphasizes that there is no direct association between the attempted coup and the former President.

 

Providing additional details, Lt-General Lavahun confirms the breach into the armory and discloses that the unit commander at Wilberforce Barrack has been apprehended for interrogation in connection with the security breach. Shedding light on the identity of the attackers, he reveals that a significant number of assailants were reportedly former bodyguards of ex-President EBK (Ernest Bai Koroma).

 

As the ongoing investigation unfolds, it has led to the arrest of 13 serving military personnel and 1 civilian so far.
