Class 6 Student Tossed into Deep Pit Amid Witchcraft Accusations
In Sierra Leone's Torijehun Village, accusations of witchcraft have stirred unrest following a young girl's paralysis of her feet and right hand.
Allegedly, classmates pushed the girl into a deep pit after a disagreement about a supposed witchcraft expedition. Newton Police Post seeks assistance from the Traditional Healers’ Union to investigate.
The nine accused, mostly women, and one man, including the victim, are under the jurisdiction of Torijehun Village's Head Man, Sallieu Salia Bah. The victim, now bound to a wheelchair, undergoes examination and treatment at Rokupa Government Hospital.
